Radio Streaming Paywall

All of Pacific Media Group's online radio streams are set under a paywall. This means online listeners must pay a subscription fee to listen online. If the listener is accessing the stream from Hawaii, the system will bypass the paywall allowing for free listening.

The paywall is a combination of a few services. Swishu (now TinyPass), handles all subscriptions and payment information. Triton Digital handles the actual radio stream.

Why the Paywall?

The US Copyright and Royalty laws have put us in a position where we can no longer afford to absorb the fees we are being charge to bring listeners the Hawaiian Music and personalities that they have come to love. To offset these costs, we have added a small subscription fee of $5/month or $50/year.

How the Paywall Works

Recommended Computer Setup

We recommend using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browsers for listening to streams. Make sure your browser is updated to the most current version.

Troubleshooting

What do I do if I lost my password?

To retreive a lost password, go to https://swishu.com/forgot . Enter the email address that was used to register your streaming account, and your password will be emailed to you. In order to retreive a lost password, the listener will need to know the email address they subscribed with.

I'm Unable to Login to the Stream

See “What do I do if I lost my password”

When I click the “Listen Live” link, all I get is a black popup

If a listener only sees a black popup, this means they have been forwarded to the streaming player, but it's not loading. If the black screen remains after a couple minutes, try refreshing by pressing “Apple + R” on Macs, or “CTRL F5” on PC.

Since there are many different types of computer/phone setups, certain configurations will not work with the Radio Stream. We will do our best to accommodate listener issues. If the above does not work, send an email to David Christy (david@prgdigital.com) with the following information:

  • Verify the user was able to login, and is seeing viewing the player screen.
  • Listener's Computer Type (Mac or PC), or Phone Type (Android and Phone Brand, iPhone, Blackberry, etc.) and version.
  • The email address the listener used to subscribe.
  • The stream in question (KAPA, KPOA, DaJam, etc)
  • Any other specifics to help troubleshoot the problem.

Pacific Media Group does not handle the online streaming systems in-house, so we will follow-up with Triton Digital about any issues. It's normally a 50/50 chance that they are able to fix the issues.

I live in Hawaii, but it prompts me to subscribe. Shouldn't I be getting this for free?

Hawaii residents should receive free access to the online streams. Unfortunately, there are a few situations where our system can not accurately locate a listener in Hawaii. See “How the Paywall Works” to learn more about how listeners are located.

If a Hawaii resident is unable to access the stream, here are the direct links to the players (bypassing subscription):
